Legacy & Wills

Decorum NI is a Northern Ireland Charity set up to support former members of the Security Forces, and their families, who served in Northern Ireland during the Troubles between 1969-2007.  Members are keen to ensure that their service and sacrifice, as well as that of their families, is never forgotten and your legacy can help ensure that this is the case. At present, the Decorum NI premises house a Living History of uniforms, equipment and artefacts as well as a large amount of written materials and stories told in various forms from audio to print.  It is in this history that Decorum NI members see as where the story of those who stood between law & order and anarchy is engrained and it is this that members wish to ensure is still around for future generations to see as the true evil of what happened to help ensure it is never repeated.  To do this, members will pledge that your legacy will go towards a permanent site that this history is preserved.

Legacies

We are incredibly grateful for each and every gift kindly left to Decorum NI

If you would like to leave a gift to Decorum NI in your Will there are three main ways to do this. Here we explain the three ways, as well as the information you need to include in your Will to make sure we receive your kind gift.

  1. A share of your estate

Many people choose to leave a share of their estate to charity – this can be a percentage of what is left over once loved ones are provided for or it can be any percentage you like.

As this gift is a proportion of your estate it keeps pace with inflation.

Example

I give to Decorum NI of 26 Balloo Avenue, Bangor, Co Down, BT19 7QT, Charity Registration Number: NIC 101142, __ % (proportion of residue in words) for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.

  1. Fixed sum of money

You can choose to leave a fixed sum of money, also known as a pecuniary gift.

You can choose any amount you like but it is worth remembering that if you do decide to leave this type of gift, it is important to review it from time to time as inflation can reduce its value.

Example

I give to Decorum NI of 26 Balloo Avenue, Bangor, Co Down, BT19 7QT, Charity Registration Number: NIC 101142, the sum of £___ (amount in words) for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.

  1. Gift of a specific item

You can also choose to leave a particular item to Decorum NI, such as a piece of jewellery, an antique or even a property. A gift like this should be named in your Will.

Example

I give to Decorum NI of 26 Balloo Avenue, Bangor, Co Down, BT19 7QT, Charity Registration Number: NIC 101142,(description of item(s)) absolutely for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.
